Is there a way to stream video from a computer on wifi to a laptop on wifi

Pretty simple really. My desktop is on wifi. It has about 800GBs of video. I want to watch said video on my laptop bc that's like 20plus hours of video I need to comb Thur. Is there an easy way to do this or anyway at all? All on the same wifi network so it's not like it's over the internet either.

Just download Plex server easy setup.

you can also use hardware solution miracast (15-40$ usb/hdmi stick)

Sounds like a windows user that needs gstreamer.
I mean, yeah if you had linux installed you could set gstreamer up to talk to vlc, could even make a menufor your shows and shit, then open it in vlc, not even at home, but from anywhere and just do your thing.

Plex would be your best bet.

The lazy/ semi-easy way is to create SMB shares and access those on the other machine.

But yeah... Plex

You could do as mentioned and just share the folder the video is in. Theres also VLC which was originally for this kind of purpose, just launch it, set it to stream, and browse to the local IP in your browser. The easiest setup for your needs would probably just be file sharing. Recommending Plex seems like buying a compressor and impact gun just to take off a single bolt. Its a little bit of an investment but if you plan on doing this regularly then its not a bad idea. Also if the machine you plan to play things on cant quite handle the higher quality stuff but another machine you have can, Plex also fits the bill. If you want to play things on your computer over the internet, Plex is also good for that. If none of those things sound like what you want, Plex might be a bit much for the job.

To share the video out to any computer on the network, put all your videos in one file, then right click that file and choose properties. In the file properties there will be a sharing tab. Configure the permissions (probably just set it to 'Everyone') and apply. Then on the computer you want to watch on open up your file browser and select 'Network' from the left. The machine with the files should be listed, double clicking it should reveal your newly shared file (you might have to put in login credentials depending on which version of windows) and the videos inside. You could even right click the file and select map network drive and have quick access to that share any time you open up 'This PC'.
