Is there a place to legally download a copy of windows 7?

Long story short friend is going to do a build, he has an extra windows 7 key he got from college and hasn't used. The dvd he has though is old and it would take a long time for him to download all the updates if he used that. Is there a place to legally just get an up to date iso so we can put that on a usb and he can still use his key?

I'm pretty sure the updates aren't that big as it'll only do the most recent one that will cover them all

There used to be a way to get the iso off of a site that was called river something or some such. I think microsoft shit bricks after a while even though it was legal to use. They only have Windows 7 pro now I believe.

Its ether a pro or ultimate license he has, so that could work. Do you have a link?

Here is a link to some more links. http://www.w7forums.com/threads/official-windows-7-sp1-iso-image-downloads.12325/

This is where I got mine from.

Thank you!

Sounds to me like you want a "Slip Streamed" installation disk. Unfortunately, I am not aware of any tools that will allow you to do that with Windows 7/8 nor anywhere that might have an already made iso that you can download either (other than perhaps rolling the dice with somewhere like Pirate Bay). It sucks, but if you can get Windows installed, activated and upgraded to SP1 ...and then updated which I think is about a GIGABYTE of downloads (and probably why you're asking), Windows does have a tool that will allow you to make a disk image which I highly recommend you do.

I think it was around 4 gigs for the iso I used. Still had to update, but I think windows always wants to update.

+1 Same link I was going to post

If you contact microsoft support they often will give you the link to an ISO of windows
