Is there a forum that

So just wondering if anybody here knows about a forum purposefully made for people to connect together outside of the forum. The idea being is that you make a post for example if you do not have a friend that is interested in a certain thing. A scenario could be that you are really interested in something niche like engineering or something. And you want like a friend that you can do the shit together with. Or that you want to start a company.

Is there a forum for this sort of thing and is it even a sound idea if there isn’t, or am i plain stupid rn?

You could try Meetup.

Look around and see if there are any hackerspaces/makerspaces near you.

Meetup is good, but I’ve found that it’s mostly mid 20s guys trying to meet girls. They’re not all that interested in the actual purpose of the Meetup. At least, in my area.

I was in Baltimore for a bit and went to a couple meetups there, much better.

Look into your local makerspace. Most of them ive seen have either a forum or IRC chat.

My area pretty much has no makerspace. It’s really depressing. :frowning:

you can design a forum and post it on go daddy but you need to study phpbb and php management.
there used to be industrial automations hands on but they went under due to lack of participants and i was overloaded as moderator dealing with perpetual bots.
as far as places to meet up with others thats when you set up user groups and centers for local congregation.
this is kind of difficult to do as many forum participants live far apart and the forum is the easiest place for their interaction.

for example I specialised in industrial automation and work with microprocessors and designing equipment.
my partner on the forum (another electrician) lives in Scotland and we designed an automated and environmentally controlled hen roost for his birds
(He lives in northern scotland )
I designed the hardware circuitry and wrote the programming to run it with raspberry pi.
temperature, lighting cycle, ventilation, water monitoring, feed monitoring. and low volume music (turns out the birds like Bach):grinning:

no your not stupid at all! many people crave association with others of like mind and its kind of hard to do even in an academic environment. and sometimes nearly impossible in many small towns
