Is the build any good?

Hello,

I've done a list on pcpartpicker: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/1V74O

I'm just wondering whether the build is any good for the money.

I'm not too sure on the cooler for a socket 2011 motherboard and CPU. I will be hopefully overclocking the CPU.

Please take note that I'm not concentrating on a gaming build otherwise I'd have chosen a CPU like the i7 4770K with a better GPU, I game on the side.

With it, I do video editing as well as audio production.

Please feel free to change components and note I have some RAM on me.

I'm just confused about the case and case fans, what would you recommend?

Thank you for your time, you are very generous :)

The build looks good, i would personaly say  go for the i7-4820K  ivybridge -E.

Also if you use software for editing, that can take the advanice of using open CL then i would recommend a AMD R9-280X card from lets say Msi Twinfrozer.

Thanks for the answer, I'm just worrying about the fact that some motherboards aren't fully compatible with ivy bridge-E with the bios. Although looking at it, buying the motherboard new I think would have the BIOS flashed properly. Thanks

120gig SSD is not enough for games/os/apps  I had to get a 2nd one if I wanted games on the SSD also.

I run Crysis, Metro and The Witcher from a 60 GB SSD...120 Gb is more then enough if you store your data somewhere else

He only had that one SSD on his build, no spinning drives. So "video editing as well as audio production." + a few games would destroy that one SSD, I would do like a 250gig SSD and a 1tb+ spinning drive for archiving.

I already have a 60GB SSD so I was thinking about raiding the drives together to make a 180GB drive. I also have other HDDs however do you think that I should raid those aswell, two 250GB drives? Thanks

thats indeed a littlebit of a point, but the 3820 is also a good choice still. also cheaper if im right.

About the gpu what i said  above, maybe looking at a Radeon R9-280X could be interesting if you use  software for editing like sony vegas , that uses open cL.

Yeah, Logan has an 3820 and he's overclocked it to 4.6ghz

That is going to depend on wether the safety of your data is more important - or the speed ;) For Video-Editing and Audio-Editing, the Speed of the SSD/HDD is - IMHO - pretty unnecessary.

Woops, I've posted that twice, I was considering an AMD card as well, does the R9-280x contain mantle?

Do you know the reliability of raiding

Depends on which type of RAID array.

For a boot drive would you say for raid 0 between 2 SSDs or raid 1? Thanks

yes they do ☺
