Okay so in my current build I have an amd athlon x4 750k paired with an r9 270. When choosing the mobo I decided to go with an FM2+ board for future upgrades.
This is where I have a problem, my 750k is fine for now, but when I upgrade will it be worth paying 160 euro (price in Ireland of a10 7850k as of 25/6/14). I hear the APU side will not benefit me at all as it can't be paired with my GPU and personally I doubt I will see 160 euro's worth of performance in comparison to my 750k.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!
Not really, there's basically no speed boost from the A10 6800k to the A10 7850k, and the 6800k is basically a 750k with no built in gpu (technically a failed integrated gpu).
750K = A10-5800K without iGPU
760K - A10-6800K without iGPU
CPU vs. CPU the 5800/6800K's (750/760K's) trade blows with the A10-7850K. So you would be gaining nothing.
What motherboard are you using? Have you tried overclocking your 750K? They are decent overclockers with adequate cooling. Will give you a little more performance for every day use and gaming.
