Hi!
So for work I am supposed to get a workstation laptop.
As almost all laptops with dgpus and igpu tend to have the dgpu hardwired to the important hdmi/display ports, I would like to avoid laptops with dgpus.
So I was wondering if SRIOV with APUs is a thing already, if so
I would love to have some directions.
Cheers!

I know that older Intel IGPs have GVT-d and GVT-g. GVT-g is basically Intel-branded SR-IOV. I think up to 9th gen, IIRC. But I believe it’s since been replaced by SR-IOV proper, I think starting with 11th gen. Not sure if 10th gen has anything. So yeah, this is a thing in Intel. I don’t think AMD has it, or at least I don’t know that they do. There are only a few Nvidia and AMD cards that I know have it and they cost you an arm and a leg. Might as well start buying multiple GPUs at that point.

So it is a thing!
Nice!
Can you link me to some articles that implement iGPU SR-IOV such that host and guest share both?

I’m not familiar with SR-IOV on 11th gen, but post 10th gen Intel CPUs have GVT-g and GVT-d, like Amanoo mentioned. AFAIK, it’s more of a timesharing feature than proper SR-IOV.
Here is a tutorial for GVT-g use on linux:

This should work on around almost all laptops bought before 2018, because AMD was non-existent and Apple didn’t lock down their laptops yet.
