Is Open But Still Immersive a Thing?

Hi guys, after weeks of research I’ve narrowed it down to two choices. The Takstar HI2050’s and the ATH AD500x’s.

I’m not a competitive gamer, but I think I would still like a nice soundstage for pinpointing players. Room is quiet so I don’t mind open headphones.

I would like an immersive pair of cans so that I can really get into the game I’m playing. So fun, but with a good soundstage. Is this possible??

What do you guys thing between the two? Help me decide please!!

It's not quite on the level of ATH, but if you wanna save a few bucks (or spend about the same amount as the Takstar), see if you can find the discontinued Razer (I know... I said Razer) Orca! I have a pair, and frankly they beat the Sennheiser HD650s hands-down, especially in the price-to-perfornance ratio! I have actually tested one of my experiment participants using both the 650 and the ORCA on a perceptual experiment that requires you to listen to a continuous stimuli and provide judgment on specific segments of it, and she claimed that she found the ORCA to be "a bit clearer, if that makes sense".

But, of course, if you wanna splurge a bit, I will also recommend you to look into AKG.

Best thing to do is tell us your budget and then we can suggest a range of options for you.

Are you ONLY gaming with them or will you be listening to music?
Are you using onboard sound or a soundcard/external DAC/AMP
Depending on budget would you consider 2nd hand or factory refurbished?

Mostly gaming, possibly some music. Budget around 100$. Not using a DAC/AMP now but could get one. Yes would consider secondhand.

Since you are willing to consider second hand, definitely look into these two:
AKG K702 Pro

AKG K612 Pro

I have also heard good things about V-Moda.
