Hello, is my pc outdated or not good enough for todays nice games?
or is it an issue of the recently "good" games being shity optimized focusing to much of their power drain on the cpu instead of the GPU.
I has: crossfire 2gb HD radeon 6950's
a Phantom II x4 945 proccessor 3.00Ghz (3.3 overlockt)
A v8 something CPU cooler that looks like a small engine rofl
windows 7 64 bit, and eyefintiy BenQ 1920x1080 monitors.
16gb RAM
I find myself laging in guild wars 2, I have heared that it's badly optimized and that it's one of those games that focus much of its performance on the CPU.
my question is as the Title. And what do you think of todays games in regards to optimisations?
I don't believe your GPU's are outdated.
I can't speak for your CPU.
Guild Wars 2 does have its problems like most games for certain pc configurations.
I believe today's games and optimizing is hit and miss.
Unfortunately for a person like you it's a hit until you go to the ends of the earth to find a way to fix what issues you have.
just overclock if you have issues, no its not that old or outdate you should be fine for another few years
Maybe a newer processor like a 6300 or something but that's a pretty solid setup.
I can't remember if it was GW2 or Planetside 2 that had some issues with actually using multicore CPU's. It was one of them, I don't know if that was resolved after beta either.
Outdated is a pretty relative term in the realm of computers. Your system is old, but should still be fine for current use IMO.
Why not try overclocking and using an SSD? If that doesn't work you can upgrade the board/CPU and keep the rest.
it might be your internet speed
Planet side 2 is just a laggy game because of all the people
If you motherboard supports it get the 6300 and over clock with that cooler you have

Short answer: No.
Long answer: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I've got a friend who's still kicking ass with an e8500 and a GTX 560 Ti (although a month ago he had an HD4870).
But what kind of lag do you get? FPS lag or latency lag? Because with a bad internet connection you can still have good framerate.
