I'm about ready to throw in the towel with my h100i. I've had it for a year now and it used to run perfectly. I used to have my 4670k overclocked to 4.5Ghz using it and it ran perfectly cool even under stress testing with aida64 it stayed in the low to mid 70s. Slowly, I saw the heat rising so slowly I decreased my overclock. I've tried everything I even took it off last week and reapplied new thermal paste using Arctic Silver 5 and reseated it to no avail. I've come to the point where I'm running it at stock clock and it can't even run Assassin's Creed Unity without hitting 85 degrees. I think its time I just get a new cooler unless someone can explain this ridiculousness I'm dealing with
New thermal paste applied. I don't think there is any more you can do. I would say get a new heatsink. But since I am an expert on water coolers, I would wait for more replies first before taking my word for it.
sounds like the thermal compound on the inside of the processor needs replaced. a quick google shows that it is semi common problem after sustained overclocks and a long period of use at stock clocks. intel used a cheap thermal compound instead of solder.
