Is My GPU Dying/ Dead?

So, I’ve had this error that I’ve been fighting all day. Its an error I had a few months ago that I fixed (dont recall how) and now this is my temp solution. Tech specs are listed at the bottom.

So after about 1-2 minutes in Rainbow Six Siege my game would freeze and crash and my event viewer would show this; (note that temps were fine during all of this, this isn’t temp related)

I could also create this error after 5-10 minute in Heaven benchmark.

To try and fix it I did the following;

Compete reinstall of Windows 10
Trying to reinstall drivers
Try installing older drivers
Purge drivers with DDU and reinstall fresh
Disable Xbox DVR
Disable Windows Driver installs via Windows update
Running game as admin/ compatibility mode
Disabling Full-screen enhancements
Changing windows power options to max performance and disable link state power management
Lowering the clock speed and mem clock speed by 100 Mhz

Just kidding its doing it again.

Is my GPU just dying? Any advice?

Do you have the ability to test the GPU in a different system? Just to rule out anything config (both SW and HW) related.

Unfortunately not.

I tend to see GPUs fail more spectacurlarly than this. Bad artifacting in games, blue screen, complete driver crash followed by black screen, or no display at all.

Have you tried installing a different version of Windows, 8.1 for example?

I haven’t but seeing as I’ve already reinstalled windows 10 I dont think that will change anything.

Have you tried a different GPU?

I dont have a spare

Try reseating it. If that doesn’t work, try putting it in a different x16 pcie slot.

I just moved it to another PCI slot and I think that fixed it. Damn dude, can I buy you a beer?

you can send bitcoin to this wallet address /s

Nah, you’re good, lol. You shouldn’t have any real performance hit with moving it. But you may want to look into a new motherboard soon. Your PCI slot may be damaged if that really does solve it.

Well it started happening again on another slot. I guess I should replace my mobo? @Phantom

I wouldn’t rule out PSU?

Normally get random restarts with psu issues

Not just driver stopped responding nonsense

Maybe try another game or another few games.
Game devs have bad days too

It happens in every game

Maybe you could try to update the motherboard bios.
Could be an issue with either the card or the board,
or it could be a software issue.
Because windows10 installs updates on itself.
So yeah maybe MS broke something again…
