I have an i5 2500k in my build, along with a z77 mobo and a 7750 graphics card, I mostly use it for gaming and some small amounts of editing, Sony vegas, Cinima 4d, ect. And Im toying with the idea of upgrading my cpu to a i5 4570, but im wondering if maybe I should upgrade something else first, also how much would upgrading improve my render times or frame rates. I mostly play games like minecraft, borderlands 2, COD, and alot of indie games KSP, cubeworld ect. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks.
No, not at all. Invest that money into a better GPU.
Upgrade your GPU if you want better gaming performance. i5-2500 is going to be just fine for several more years.
Ok thanks for the feedback, any reccomendations for the gpu upgrade?
Depends on your budget and PSU.
my psu is a 750 watt not 80+, and my budget would be around £200-£250.
You should go for a new psu 80+ bronze. What gpu do you have now?
Ivy bridge and haswell cpu's run a lot hotter then sandy bridge when overclocked because Intel decided to use TIM paste between the CPU die and IHS rather than fluxless solder which is a much better heat conductor resulting in lower heat conductivity. The IHS are now heat barriers rather than heat spreaders. Id say stay with your 2500k until intel goes back to soldering the IHS. Unless you want to do this to fix your haswell cpu:
Your 2500k is at 4.4ghz. Keep it. Upgrading would be a waste of money imho.
New gpu and matching psu plus ssd is the only thing I would upgrade in your build.

Ok guys thanks for the feedback I'm going to go for the gpu and psu upgrade.
+1 on the 760. Only thing is whether or not his psu will have the amps in the 12v rail to run it. Heard that you need 42 Amps in the 12V. If you have that, then don't bother upgrading the psu, unless you want more efficiency. And if you do bother upgrading, then go straight for an 80+ gold psu. I don't think that Bronze would justify an upgrade, unless your psu breaths fire.
