Is it worth it to recap computer parts?

I have a video card with 3 blown caps, and a mobo with 8 of them.

The video card is an evga 8500gt 256MB,and if i remember it was working it would just crash if you load a game.

The mobo is this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131478 and all 8 of the large caps went.

And before i noticed the blown caps i was thinking of using it for a pfsense routor, cause it has 2 ethernet ports already, plus i have 3 pci ethernet cards.

If you're going the pfsense route, recap the mobo. The GPU, however, I'd trash it.

So even if the video card was just going to be used for basic stuff, and not be gamed with at all? Cause if it is worth recaping any at all it might be a better card for a no budget HTPC i am building than the 7900GS i might be putting in,cause i think the 8500gt uses a lot less power.

True, it is energy efficient. If it's going into an HTPC, then yeah. I was assuming for gaming. How much do you figure it'll cost you?

Well i have a soldering iron,so that cuts out some of the price lol,but i think it was around $5 for the caps for the video card, and for the mobo depending what brand it could cost around $2-$8.

where are you getting your capacitors? www.digikey.com ?

Well i was just checking ebay prices, but i bookmarked that page and i will get them from there.

ok
