Is it possible to change refresh rate and bit depth with a script?

I’m using Windows 10 and an nvidia GPU. I’m looking for a way to change the refresh rate and bit depth (8 bit and 12 bit) without having to go through the nvidia control panel. Any ideas?

why?.. this seems like a lot of work for the sake of silliness.

Because I want when it switches to a lower refresh rate, when watching videos, for it to use 12 bit colour. It works this way if I set it once but it’s not persistent across reboots.

I believe the driver stores the settings in an individual file so if you find that should be possible to create a script that edits the file. can’t remember what said file is called though, also not entirely sure if the changes will initialize on the fly like that.
