IS Fallout 3 playable on Windows 7 home premium 64 bit?

As the Steam Summer Sale is coming up as a new pc gamer fallout 3 seems like a great game since i loved it on the 360. When i look at it on steam it says that Fallout 3 is not optimized for Windows 7. My questions are:

What does this mean?

Will it still play on my computer?

Is it playable on Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1 version?

Thanks and any answers are welcome. GG all!

It will run fine on Windows 7. I would suggest getting a 4 gig patch for it. Google explains what this is very well. Run it in admin mode etc. etc. All that steam is saying is that the game was not created for windows 7 since it predates windows 7. I don't think it would make a whole lot of difference running fallout 3 on windows 7 verses Vista or windows 8.

Have a read through of this.

The Steam forum for Fallout 3 has a guide that helps you play the game on Windows 7, really good guide.

Ha this question.

I would say it is fairly valid. I have Win 7 Home Premium 64-bit and It will not load. I have applied all the fixes from PC gaming wiki, tried all manner of compatibility modes and nothing. The game wont start at all.

New Vegas works perfectly, 3 won't start.

Then that seems to be an issue with your situation/setup specifically...if you give more details, someone on this or another forum may be able to assist you :D

I have it running on Windows 8.1 fine and have run it no problem on windows 7 64bit Home and Business easily.

i remember is spazing out over the cores on my 8350 and I had to apply a fix (i think it was switching 4 of them off), other than that golden.

I got the Steam version and it worked fine. To kick the ass of your xbox version, see Gopher on youtube, that guy is the Demigod of TES/Fallout modding!

I never had any problem neither did my girlfriend.
