Is an External USB Graphics Card a good idea for an extra monitor?

I recently purchased a cheap VGA monitor to use as a third display, but my Graphics Card doesn't have a VGA port (The analog DVI port is also in use).  I though I would just buy a DVI-D-VGA converter, but I saw some USB-VGA external graphics card that look like they might work better.  The VGA monitor is not the same resolution as my main monitor, so it won't be used for gaming.  I'll only use it for productivity and possibly watching videos.

Would I be able to just use the external graphics card seamlessly along with my other monitors, or would a DVI-VGA digital-analog converter work better?

Id say neither would be a good solution honestly. I think you should look into a hub to split your power three ways (three ports, one for each monitor) and then you should be set and rolling with it. Its hard to say it wont work, what your wanting to do, but an example of the hardware would be nice to see what exactly you were looking into there man. Best regards with your project.

i don't know if it will work well, but those are pretty cheap i think, you should try it and report back
