Is a i5 4690K and R9 295x2 overkill for 1360x768p?

If you have the cash for a decent GPU, I'm pretty sure you can dish out $170+ for a decent monitor (I'm not sure how much a decent 1080p is in US). That extra screen real estate is just too good when you are web browsing or reading documents.

You can get decent TN panels for $130 bucks, my secondary monitor is a Asus VS228H and it's around that price.

If that tv is 240Hz, and interpolated 240Hz doesn't count, then it's not overkill. But unless you built the TV's driver board yourself, it's not 240Hz.

the word you're looking for @x996015 is "marketing"

170$? You can get a decent 1080p monitor for about 90$. Well at least here in the states.

I'd get a new monitor, before you get that. It is very overkill. While both processors are fantastic for gaming, your res doesn't need 2 gpu's.

buy it then buy a 4K monitor and your set for the next few years

Get yourself a good CRT monitor and you'll be set.
The one below will handle 1600x1200@100Hz or 2048x1536@80Hz. Never settle for a LCD.

I was having this discussion with a few mates a few weeks ago. I game at 1080p and want a 2nd GTX 980 G1 Gaming. They said it was a waste at 1080p. My argument was that I want more headroom, and regardless of what anyone says you cannot play GTAV with everything set to high and achieve 60FPS minimum.

So to answer your question... Yes especially at 1360x768. At 1080p, perfect.

i got a 1200W 42 amp 12 volt psu im fine lol

I can´t even.................

well according to spec it`s not fine, it requires 50 amp at 12V

You sure you dont work for Ubisoft?

lol 295X2 for 720p, that will be a massive cpu bottleneck.
THe scaling will be realy bad.

Honestly, at 768p you probably could play most games with the onboard intel graphics, BUT I would recommend grabbing a 750ti if you ever plan to go 1080p.

Haha that was funny. I could barely reach 40FPS with a R9 270x at ultra. "well it was kinda CPU bottlenecked but with a i7 4790 it wont." So yeah. But hopefully I can get at least 120FPS in GTAV. Because really even though my tv is 60hz I want to make sure it will always be higher or at 60fps. And then when I do get a 4 K tv ill get a second R9 295x2 because actually they are pretty cheap now.

I'm getting a i7 4790. I don't think a CPU bottleneck is to much of a problem.

Not on my monitor. It supports 300Hz at 1024x768i, so a fast GPU is needed to max it out. I play fast-paced games at 1280x960i and it supports 240Hz there. For desktop use, I keep it at 2560x1920i@120Hz.

Wat?
