Is a 960 worth it?

I am looking into building my first PC and am wondering if the EVGA gtx 960 Super Super Clocked 4gb VRAM version is worth it? I want it to last about 2 years before an upgrade.

PC Criteria:

Used for gaming and web searches, work etc...

I live in Canada so parts are more expensive than the US.

50-60 fps on higher settings 1080p is preferable but I am OK with turning some settings down.

My budget is around $1200-$1400 including a monitor, operating system etc...

Yes I think it should be able to game high at 60fps on 1080p np.

i dont think its realy worth it, at the price point the 4GB 960 is currently at.
they are arround the $250,- mark, and that is not worth it at all.
The 2GB GTX960 version isnt a bad card, But the 4GB is just too expensive for what it is.

But thats my personal opinnion.

You can grab a Sapphire 290 TriX OC for arround $270,- + free game.
which will blow it out of the water.

Sorry I did mean a 2gb version.

Unfortunately in Canada the Sapphire 290 costs $360.

No 960 is almost never worth it, there is better for the money like the R9 280/280x/285 (probably as easy to find a 380 now) even which will monster it. Or even a 290 which is leagues ahead.

Any specific cards you would suggest?

I would have also suggested the Sapphire, But I like the MSi Twin Frozer designs. I would say have a look around where you buy parts and see what is in budget, if you like the looks of any in particular or have 2 or 3 in mind it would not be hard to choose between them. Post them back here. Sorry but I am not in Canada nor do I know what prices are like there. But definitely take a look yourself, you will be a better judge of price.

I just had a look, they all seem about the same price for the 290.

If you are looking for a full system, it is easier to do up a full list of parts and then see if it is out of balance and adjust parts to better fit budget to performance.

Just from a very quick looks this showed up it is a 280x http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202046&cm_re=280x-_-14-202-046-_-Product

But also that is strange, the nVidia stuff seems cheaper. Hmmm.

Would it be cheaper to buy from the US?
