Is 2133mhz memory worth it?

Im working on my new system and I currently have 16gb of ram @1600mhz. Is it worth it performance wise to put in 16gb of 2133mhz ram and spend an extra $170 or should I just keep the 1600mhz ram?

Just keep what you have. You will not see any performance increase at all especially if you are just gaming. In that case, RAM speed really means nothing. 1333Mhz or 2400Mhz you'll see the same FPS. 1600Mhz is the perfect balance between clock speed and CAS latency.

Battlefield 4 is the only game I know of that has a small difference in fps from better ram. Maybe 1fps, but worth $170, hell no.

No, its not worth it.

1600mhz is totaly fine.

Overclock your current set. If you have the time. It is fun.

Thanks everyone, looks like I will keep the 1600 mhz ram.

2133Mhz will make a difference on APU based builds. but outside of that its not worth the extra money

The only other compelling reason to buy 2133 MHz RAM is if you wanted to max out your motherboard at 32GB and use 16GB of that RAM as a Data cache.
