I was in the mall the other day and picked up the 2-disc DVD at FYE for 13 bucks. The first disk contains a full 2 hour documentary on The Best Band In The World, covering the first leg of their latest tour (early 2008 ) and the second disk is footage of the full concert set with one song from each show (the setlist was the same at all shows). It was a real treat because I was at the show they chose the Rime of the Ancient Mariner footage from. The documentary was a cool look into what goes on behind the scenes during the tour, and the reactions they got in the different countries. They spend time interviewing some of the fans from each city and give you a good look into metal culture around the world. Apparently Maiden is a religion in Latin America, and they're quite popular with teenage girls in Japan. It was also almost unreal seeing Dio and the guys from Slayer and Metallica show up at the LA show and talk about how influential maiden was on them. That aside, there is also a CD release of the concert, it is really a must own (i torrented it because i didnt want to pay for this twice) the performance on this recording is better than any of the other post-reunion live albums. There are even some nice little enhancements to some songs, Bruce seems to have perfected the already perfect Clairvoyant, and hearing Adrian Smith sing some of the lyrics in Wasted Years was very cool. The boys are on top of their game in this, and especially for a band that's been going strong for 30 years! BUY IT BUY IT BUY IT!!!!
At the current price this is a steal, most live concert DVDs are more than this and dont include a 2 hour movie with them. If you call yourself a metal fan you need to own this, no exceptions. Even if you are sorta new the the metal scene, this will show you why exactly Maiden is hailed as the best and most influential band in the genre. UP THE IRONS \m/ !!!!
