IRC? or are we sticking to discord?

IRC? or are we sticking to discord?
IRC would be nice to read the chatlog and get familiar with a topic than randomly popping in discord. Plus typing lets me think before I say something :)
That confuses me.. you cant type in discord?
I don't think there's been any decision on IRC yet.
I'm all for using IRC!
#teksyndicate, #teklinux and #qainsworld are all on EFNet - make a new one there?
ewrk
edit: formatting
Well #level1 on efnet is already used … so... drop by?
meh, prefer discord. It doesn't feel 'old'.
We have #teksyndicate, #teklinux, #tekbsd, #qainsworld, #treyeclops and #level1 on EFnet (irc.efnet.org:6667) to name the active channels.
thanks, ill join those. i was going to get on discord but having to create another freaking account is driving me crazy. Especially that i already have mumble and teamspeak because everyone want to use 30 different things. With almost all websites requiring you to sign up. too many gaming, etc accounts
sorry had to vent about that.
Better to just stick to one platform, you can use IRC on Discord via a bot but I'm not sure if that's easy to configure for channels that -you- don't own
Discord cause you have options and little chat rooms for the community. The English Channel being the typical "Lounge". for example, and then I believe there is one dedicated for the Community News Videos that gets posted on a weekly or so basis.
What'd be really cool, would be a level1.net IRC network. Then community members can create channels as they see fit and may prevent multiple conversations going on into one Discord channel.
However, the Discord server is great, and it should definitely not be got rid of (should a IRC network, or even channel to come about). A bridge bot can be used to have the same channels on both options.
Looks like I'm going to have to add more channels to my auto join config.
We can already create channels on EFnet as we please (EFnet hasn't got nearly the amount of rules that Freenode has).
Absolutely using a pre-existing network would be a lot easier for maintenance than self-hosting one. I'm not a fan of Freenode either, I only lurk around there for the #mcdevs channel. You'll find me being very active on EsperNet.
I actually prefer freenode, you can at least verify who your talking to. @Ctrl_Null The only reason an account is required on discord is because i enabled it to stop impersonators and potential bots.
There's a reason accounts area required in places. Funny thing is, one of the reasons the discord server was made was to reduce the number of platforms you needed.
I'd just like to stick with discord because we already have a lot of people on the platform and we really don't need another
Almost 850.
I don't mind a better solution. I have one in mind, but i dont think its quite mature enough, though if the community was behind it we could help make it better.
I also don't mind IRC, it has its uses (i've used it for years), but its not a replacement, it lacks in so many ways, which is one of the reasons I discounted it when i was looking for something.
so i guess this is still up in the air?
look up at Sloclay
