Anyone know how or if its possible to do IP over thunderbolt 3 on Linux?
Intel has already implemented Thunderbolt 3 drivers in the Linux kernel, a spokesman for the chip-maker said.
So yeah. Plug n' play. Note this was posted a year ago. So it definitely should be well implemented by now.
I have had little success using TB3 on Linux at all. I couldn't get the thunderbolt module to load on anything I tried but arch (thanks to the AUR). Even then, I couldn't get a drive to mount, though others report success with networking over TB3 using the module+daemon found under "Getting the Code":
