iPad Mini w. Retina vs w/o

NOTICE: I KNOW HOW MUCH EVERYONE ON HERE HATES APPLE AND IPADS IN GENERAL!

Hello, I am looking for a tablet, and, I am stuck between these two options, as I could get the Mini w/o retina for $199 (After $100 gift card), or the retina for $399.  Is the retina that much more powerful?

Here is my uses for it (And the only reason I would consider getting an iPad): The apps JamUp Pro XT, GarageBand, Ampkit, and Sound Cloud.  I dont have the money to buy a nice high end guitar head/cab, such as a 5150 or Boogie Dual Rectifier, so these apps are very important for me, and they are not on android :L

So, is the iPad Mini w. retina worth it?

If you HAVE to get the an iPad Mini get the Retina.

Here is a benchmark that shows how the Retina absolutely STOMPS on the original mini.  Plus the screen doesn't look like complete shit.

Well, the retina mini uses the A7X or something to that effect... which is Apple's newest SoC, which the non-retina uses the A5 (so its basically an iPad 2 in terms of performance). For music apps this might not make a huge difference (from a sound quality point of view), but the general user experience will be much better on the newer chip.

Plus the screen doesn't look like complete shit.

... couldn't have said it better myself.
