I work at AT&T and can tell you a few things. The one good thing about uverse is that the speed we sell SHOULD be what you get 24/7 because it's not shared lines. However that's not the case unless you're the lines are perfect which all depends on where you live.

Second. We sell and word out packages very deceptively. We sell you 45mbps BUT you hsia speed is actually only 32 or around there. It's never equal to the bandwidth alloted.

And 3rd. Fuck AT&T I'll be quitting in a few months uverse copper is a sinking ship

I assume your ISP is providing internet over a cable connection? If you have an older modem it may be running DOCSYS 2.0 which only supports i think 30 or 35 mbit/s, while DOCSYS 3.0 does 100 mbit/s.

Uverse is DSL AFAIK

I was pricing ISPs for work and AT&T Uverse qouted me 768kbps. I had a good chuckle.
