Internal microphone picks up hard drive noise

I'm skyping a lot with my girlfriend and she uses her laptop's internal microphone since she doesn't have any external ones.

The microphone picks up the noise from her hard drive and it's absolutely maddening. I was wondering if there's a way around this? Some level-magic or something, I don't know. I'm completely inexperienced when it comes to audio and audio recording.

I'm considering just getting her this cheap thing, but I want to be sure it won't let any of the hard drive noise through. I was thinking since it's just a jack without any cord (so it's basically pushed right up against the computer) I thought it might pick up some vibrations, or that maybe one of you guys know of a better option, since this one is from 2006 and may be a tad outdated.

I've already asked and PTT is not an option apparently.

Thank you in advance.
