My friend played a lot of TF2, over 200+ hours, during summer break. By selling everything he picked up in those 200+ hours, he managed to net $300, enough to buy quite a few games. Just felt like sharing this.
Damn, I have about 500 hours played and all i've been doing is converting them to scrap to make more weapons...

I gave my vintage items for normal items, just to piss people off. I've been playing under 300 hours since march 2008.
I bought some games by selling trading cards on the market, which is basically selling hats.
I've sold some items and made something between 5€ to 10€. I guess this is the main reason why valve is cracking down on idle servers.
