Like the title says im looking for a motherboard that has the option to leave the Xeon on turbo speed since it cant be overclocked. Also if its not much trouble would like it black and red since my 2nd build will be red thanks in advance.
which particular platform are we talk about?
Xeon E3-1270 s1155 - Sandybridge
Xeon E3-1270-V2 s1155 - Ivybridge
Xeon E3-1270-V3 s1150 - Haswell
Sandybridge is it worth it I didn't know the v meant newer
Why would you want to leave it on turbo speed?
if you are pummeling the cpu with computations it should kick up into high gear.
I think it's good to have control over the speed.
The MSI Z77A GD65 Gaming is a decent board for SandyBridge and IvyBridge Xeons/core-i7's and is red and black.
If you have purchased the e3-1270 Sandybridge you might be able to turbo boost it higher than the advertised speeds. For example my i7-2600 (which is pretty much the same as the e3-1270 Xeon) can be set to turbo boost up to 4.2GHz You can also set this to be on all the cores rather than just one or two. The Ivybridge and Haswell non-k i7 chips lost this limited overclock feature.
yeah i suppose you should be able to do this with a Z77 board.
My I7 3770 (Ivybridge) disagrees with that statement and runs at 4.1GHz. It is Haswell that lost the ability.
Thanks to everyone for the helpful info sorry i took forever to answer was working have 2 jobs.
Cool, that's useful to know.
