LOL my salt my have been obvious. That is something I did not think about. Actually that makes a lot of sense. I make a habit out of cleaning paste bi yearly and reapplying but that is because I am OCD about it. Though it has seemed to benefit laptops more. Its possible that they need to consider a more thermally stable paste. I guess this is why AMD chooses to solder the IHS to the chip
