Intel Quicksync on Linux/OBS-studio

Like the title says, is there a way to enable quicksync for video encoding, specifically for obs-studio, but also in general?

I should probably also say I'm running Ubuntu 14.04 w/unity

In short
Yes there is.. Compile and Run in intel media SDK for linux.
BUT it is not for the beginner people in linux or so I have read. I could be wrong because I am also trying to find a way to do this... The SDK worked for me and I programmed in my own support into VLC but its buggy..

Here is the Free Starter Edition which contains developer support for the codec
https://software.intel.com/en-us/media-client-solutions
"Please note that there are not very many pieces of OS software support the media SDK yet... It was released in 2013 by intel"

VLC Media Player supports it
it is supported by Wowza Streaming Engine

THERE is work for integration in ffdshow for media players to use and OBS studio to use... I

If there is someone more experienced with this such as @wendell maybe you can provide some insight?

One other note... its mainstream support kernel is 3.8.. Intel says thats where it is best optimized but you can cross compile it for other kernels easily.. it really isnt too difficult
