I just put together a VERY budget (sub $250) PC using a combination of used and salvaged parts.
The result was a Dell T3400 Chasis with an Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 CPU, 8gb DDR2 and a HIS Radeon 7850
While this machine was not meant to be a gaming PC, I was curious how it would perform so I ran heaven bench and the system scored a 1009. Batman Arkham City was playable at 1080p getting around 30fps on high with some of the settings turned down.
I expected slightly better performance from the 7850, so I was wondering if the CPU or possibly the ram were holding it back. For $250 i'm definitely not complaining about the performance though
I am not getting your point..It's really abject for me that I don't understand the term "G0" in terms of stock cooling..Can you elaborate it further? Find
I think he is talking about the revision of the CPU, the later the revision the more the architecture will be optimized (easy said). . . he says that revision G0 is so much optimized that the CPU don't run to hot so you can cool it with stock cooling. (even when overclocked)
EDIT: OK, he talks about Stepping :) (i should learn to read)
It very likely is, my Q6600 bottlenecks my GTX 560 quite significantly, even running Black Mesa source. -_- If you have an OC-able motherboard (which if it was a Dell rig to start with, you probably don't) it should clock up to around 3.2GHz without much trouble. If your rig has a crummy Dell motherboard like mine, you can typically find a G41 motherboard that will allow OCing for like $40. Just be careful you check for memory compatibility since most of them are DDR3
