Hey guys I am about to build a new gaming rig. I am not sure if I should by the Intel or AMD option. ( I am just gonna list the motherboard and cpu)
My Intel Option:
- Asus Sabertooth Z77 - Intel i5 3570K or the Intel i7 3770K
My AMD Option:
-Asus Sabertooth 990FX - AMD FX 8350
I just wanted to mention the i7 option because some people reccomended it for being future proof etc. It is important to me that my pc is sort of future proof and good overclockable... But I am not sure if I should go for the AMD option because I would safe a lot of money.
If you have other suggestions for the mobo's just let me know.
If you've watched The Tek's video on gaming benchmarks, then you would know that the 8350 is a good choice for gaming, and very futureproof( except it doesn't have PCI-E 3.0, which is just a gimmick anyway. Current cards barely saturate 2.0 or 2.1). It even beats an enthusiast grade i7-3820, so you would save money with that, without sacrificing performance. I would also recommend getting a good cooler and OC the hell out of it.
I'd just like to say that no computer is "future proof." After a few years, you're going to have to upgrade some components. However, that being said, I just put together an AMD build for my friend. It knocked his price down quite a bit, and the thing is really fast. It has an FX 6100 (which isn't as nice as an 8350, ovbiously) and it crushes any games he plays, paired with a 650. So I think that you'll be absolutely fine with AMD. I like them quite a bit.
Its the same as graphics Cards really, the whole Nvidia vs AMD, both intel and AMD Trade Blows and can do differenct things better but for the most part, theyre completly even, Either or and youll have one of the Best CPU's for the money available today.
