Intel microcode on amd cpu - ubuntu

I have just set up ubuntu 18.04 on my new pc and after getting some of the software I ended up looking up microcode on synaptic package manager.

Turns out I have both the amd64 and intel microcode installed. Now i don´t know whether I should remove the intel one or just leave it - i’m leaning towards removing it (I have an amd cpu.

Thanks

Just leave it installed.

The kernel will load whichever microcode is appropriate.

If you boot the disk up for recovery on an intel box, or migrate it to an intel platform the intel microcode will be there.

Given i am pretty sure these are default packages, removing them may potentially cause issues down the line. You won’t save any appreciable space.

I’d strongly suggest leaving it.
