YAY!

why'd they have to make an LGA1156? won't it be a hassle in the future if lets say one guy with an i7 lynnfield wants to upgrade to a bloomfield? it'd be nice though if they made it possible for the lga1156 to also be used with lga1366 mobos....

Convoluted marketing strategy FTW LOL

lol

I was thinking about getting a Maximus III Formula along with an i7 920 but Intel decided to go with two different sockets. Intel has to ruin everything.

Now you have to use that i7 with Dual Channel RAM and a lower QPI.

Its because Intel do not give a shit about its core i5 customers upgrade path.

They want you to buy a new motherboard and cpu just to use core i7, so I very much doubt that will ever change.

As for the core i5 chips, they look pretty good. Just depends how much the barstard Intel charges for them!

or possibly it might just have something to do with one being designed for tri channel ddr3 and the other being designed for dual channel...

Could be, but I doubt the difference between 2 & 3 channel memory would require a whole new socket/cpu.

Yes it will require an E-ATX motherboard like the X58 to fit all the slots on but thats it.

a lot of things are possible i couldnt say what it would take to make it compatible with both, but aside from the technical difficulties that would be involved, would it really make sense to make more complicated and expensive x58s to be used in budget systems?

shitty intel here is what i think even if they bothe is technically identical they will change it so u have to buy the new soket motherboard and OMG am so pissed off from Intel with this shit marketing if the new Core I7 YYY turns out to be a downgraded I7 920 with that price and not even close AMD Phenom II X4 9950 Black Edition + Asus Crosshair III formula here i Come

The 9950? LOL. Don't.

Dont get any of the previous Phenom cpu's if you are going AMD.

You will regret it I promise you!

why the phenom 9950 seems ok, whats wrong with it?

AMD and INTEL both are arseholes!!!!!
