My friend wants to build a computer, and he wanted a air cooler. No water, also he wanted to know if he could OC his processor later on. He said he wants to do around 4.2 GHz. What cooler can do that at a stable temp.
balls, it just went out of stock at Newegg. Any other place I can get a i5 2500k or a i7 2500k?
why dont you get a 3570k ?
lower temps, unless its not that significant with a good cooler
the i7 2600k and i5 2500k are going to overclock higher but a 4.8ghz oc is going to perform like a i5 3570k or i7 3770k at like 4.4ghz so really its does not matter what one you get. But if you get a good chip the IVY bridge version will out perform if you can get like 4.5 or 4.6 out of it
k but what cooler should I use( I am retarded with cooling and network cards, though I just need to know cooling know.)
This cooler http://pcpartpicker.com/part/phanteks-cpu-cooler-phtc12dxbk
And this thermal paste http://pcpartpicker.com/part/prolimatech-thermal-paste-propk15g
Those two should do the job
I know you said you didnt want water cooling but does that mean closed loop coolers too? If overclocking is your aim then id seriously consider going for a closed loop instead of air.
well just not expensive ones
If ovrclocking is the idea, then you should stay far away from CLCs. An H100i is going to cost more than even the Noctua NH-D14, which beats the H100i, if not being on-par with it, for less money.
I can see if I can do a closed loop in my budget
also my case is a NZXT Guardian 921, which im hoping can fit a cpu WC kit
nevermind about my first post after brennanriddel, but is there a good water cooler for my case, as I may do it later
i would say Phanteks PH-TC14PE blk the best aircooler to get atm.
k then I guess ill go with that THANKS YA'LL
As a Phanteks PH-TC14PE owner, even in black, I can vouch for it :)
wonder how effective is their so called Exclusive P.A.T.S (Physical Antioxidant Thermal Shield)
