Hey guys, I was just wondering how well an Intel Pentium G3258 will perform in a NAS that I intend to use to stream music and 1080p video from. I want to use 4 HDDs in a RAID 10 array, and possibly an SSD or two for a cache drive. I read up on the G3258 and Intel’s site says it supports ECC RAM, and the motherboard I would like to use supports the Pentium on LGA1150 I’m just wondering if the 3258 will have enough power to keep up with the rest of the system. Any thoughts on this?
I would say yes. I've got an i3-2130 in my media server running Plex and while it's performance is negligibly better, it can handle 3-4 simultaneous transcoded streams to friends and family.
