Intel CPUs not supporting Linux [click-bait!]

Before going out and buying a new laptop with the intent of installing Linux on it, I suggest reading the article http://www.pcworld.com/column/world-beyond-windows/

has Wendell mentioned this at any time? maybe I've missed it.

Intel CPU's DO Support LINUX. Click bait as fuck...

Linux doesn’t support internal solid-state drives in RAID (Intel RST) mode. Linux can see the drive in AHCI (Advanced Host Controller Interface) mode. However, certain Lenovo laptops don’t allow the mode to be changed in the BIOS. You can boot Linux from a USB drive, but not install it on the laptop’s SSD.

Its a Lenovo problem, NOT Intel.

My HP Envy DV6 is in the same conditions as the Lenovo notebooks but, like some other HP laptops, allows to install Linux anyway even if the controller is still in RAID mode. I've not done it personally but I've seen videos online of people doing it so I guess it works. If I'm wrong feel free to call me out on this.

I've looked online about this when I was about to buy the SSD and RAID mode with one drive is basically AHCI mode (in fact performace are in line with AHCI) so it's only a Lenovo issue as other are saying.

This was actually covered in the new Tek episode. It's just a Lenovo problem. Microsoft confirmed this.

but the DV's suck :P lol

Man everyone of my friends and friends of my friends are giving me crap because of it hahahaha All I've heard about HP laptops is short lifespan and overheating like motherfucker. I'm knocking on wood and doing any superstitious gesture possible every time to make bad luck go away lol
What I can say is that they're not built that well. Or maybe mine is starting to came apart because I've played on it and the CPU got to 100°C many times (the PC never crashed or shut down itself, that's savage!)

Get a cooling pad. All the HP's I have had (pentium M rev 1's 2002 - 2004) were fire hazards TBH. The one before my NW8000 burnt the processor and socket.

Been using it forever basically. Also keeping it extremly clean always. I treat my tech with sweet love and caring u.u
