hello.
I have and alienware alpha an wanted to part out further (hard drives already taken) meaning still have the cpu for in it an planing a test bench build with open air case and wanted to go cheaper so I am looking to me own stock to break down and wondered something.
FC-LGA12c is the cpu an have found this is socket fclga 1150 an wonder if it is the same socket as lga 1150?
I have found some cheaper mother boards for this but not sure if its the same socket so I am hoping for some help from the community.
Edit: Actually I have to correct myself. The actual meaning of FC-LGA12c is the package design of the CPU itself.
Package meaning chip + PCB and on top of which the heat spreader sits.
Intel has used FC-LGA12c design with Ivy Bridge (LGA 1155) and Haswell (LGA 1150).
More info is probably needed on what CPU suits your motherboard.
What is the current CPU? The i3-4130T? If so, that is LGA 1150.
If you want a more in-depth answer:
FC-LGA stands for Flip-Chip Land-Grid-Array.
Flip-Chip just basically means that the chip itself is flipped and then connected to the PCB.
Land Grid Array is the connection method for desktop computers between the CPU (chip on PCB) and the motherboard. LG meaning that the pins are on the socket rather than on the CPU.
AMD processors use Pin Grid Array, which means that the pins are on the CPU rather than on the socket.
Laptops would have BGA or Ball-Grid-Array, basically the same as memory chips on a DIMM. The CPU chip is soldered directly to the motherboard.
What you see here is the actual chip upside down.
Here's LGA socket and CPU
Here's PGA socket and CPU
Here's a nice visual view of what BGA is![]()
i3-4130T.
I was hoping it would work on motherboard an kind of lost for its socket type
Yea, the 4130T is a LGA 1150 CPU.
So for example a i5-4690 would work in it's place.
wonderful information sir thank you for taking the time..you've saqfed me some on a project
