Intel/AMD expensive CPU vs CUDA vs OpenCL for Editing Rig?

is it worth buying a 4930k if i got a 280x GPU with which i can render videos. i am a noob in editing, and i see people buy 4770k and 4930k , or like i got 8350 , and use them for rendering., what difference does it make ? and if the GPUs are better, why people buy 4930k and say they got it for editing ?

Please help me out!

Thanks a lot!

4930k renders like a champ and most software has cuda enabled driver support  -- what difference dose it make ? speed allot more speed

thanks a lot. but i am not able to figure our why use CPU if we can use a card like 780 for cheap and it would be faster ?

Depends on the program.

Rendering on GPU is a newer thing. Rendering on CPU gives veracious results and better quality at the same size but takes longer.

thanks a lot dude :) i think i am going to keep my 8350.

and buy a CPU cooler like noctua d14

just keep your FX8350 it renders realy fine. especialy wenn you overclock it a bit, if you use sony vegas, you could utilize open cl, which is awesome with a 280X.

4770K is not much faster at rendering, then a FX8350. 4930k is basicly only faster, because it can do more threads at the same time, Pistol is currently running a FX9590 in her system, and the diffrence is not that mindblowing huge compaired to logans 4930K, if you take the price in concideration. Especialy, if you have a decent mobo right now, you can easaly overclock a FX8350 to near the FX9590 stock specs so yeah.
