Intake Fans w/filters

Can someone please explain to this noob?

If there is a filter covering an intake, is the filter a big enough block air flow? and if this is the case? does this mean i have to get static pressure fans in place of air flow fans for the intake of my case?

Fan filters just block dust from coming in, not 100% but a significant amount of dust is stopped airflow is hardly affected. You could potentially cause some problems if there is a lot of dust collecting and you don't clean the filters out every little while.

I have a Corsair Air540 case with a front intake dust filter. I also use 2 140mm AirFlow fans. It all works just fine. Now if I let the dust build up too much and I don't clean the filter the overall system temps will start to go up a few degrees, but never anything world shattering.

If you don't already have a removable fan filter of some sort try these out. I use one for my power supply intake and it works great.

P.S. If your intake fans are going to have filters and are also right up against a hard drive cage, then you may want static pressure optimized fans - since the hdd cage will block some airflow. Otherwise if the fans are free of obstructions on the inside air flow is better.
