Installing Windows from existing HDD

So, I bought an SSD and it'll be in here in a couple of days. Meanwhile I'm cleaning up house and preparing the PC for the new drive, which got me wondering:

Isn't there any way I can install Windows (8, I think I may upgrade to 8) from my existing HDD, instead of DVD/USB boot?
It seems a simple concept, right? An installer running from the current system, on the existing HDD, select the new installed drive as destination and off it goes... right?

It isn't that much of a hastle to create a bootable pen/external hard drive, but I'm wondering if there is a way, and if not, why?

It's possible to migrate Windows over to your SSD, though doing so can be a pain in the ass.

Cool, not what I asked tho.

My question is weather is it possible or not to run a windows installation from the existing operating system and drive (HDD), which is going to install a new operating system on a new drive (SSD).

They are separate drives, It seems logical that you can run this process on a friendly environment instead of booting from external memory.
