What VPN are you connecting to?
Is it over wireless or LAN?
Are you wanting to setup a Guest wireless for other people to connect to or have you not setup your own wireless yet?
- Air VPN somewhere in Netherlands
- LAN
- No guest network just normal wireless connection for family members (they never use cables) The wifi is not set up yet.
Just type in SSID you want to use and then go over to wireless security and use AES with a strong password.
Ill have to read up on how to help you with VPN slow issues later tonight or tom. About to head out on a trip.
Ok Thank you, I tried to use WPA2 Enterprise but there was lot stuff I didn't understand so I will have to stick with Personal
EDIT: both radios are broadcasting but my laptop can't see them.
What does the laptop nic support? b/g/n?

Double check that you did set it on wpa2 personal and that it stuck. Power on and power off and see if that helps.

Yep restarted router and settings have been saved. Restarted laptop and It can see them now. Progress!
OK now over LAN run a speed test without VPN and them run with VPN and report back.
With VPN disconnected: 25.24 Down 4.28 Up PING: 15ms
With VPN connected: 23.48 Down 3.91 Up PING 30ms
Over Wifi it's much slower than this.
EDIT: I think the speed is alright now. @Dynamic_Gravity @sanfordvdev @QEMM Do you have any tips/recommendations on dd-wrt settings. Something must have or must change sort of stuff?
you may want to enable jumbo packet frames over wifi. Could help improve performance.
