Installing Linux Distros from a CD

Now I am a complete Linux idiot and am just trying it out with an old junky computer. Now I know I won't get the best experience because it is so crap but I'd still like to give them a try.

Issues:

This BIOS can't boot from a USB drive or at least I don't see a way it could.

No DVD drive so I am limited to .isos under 700MB.

So far I have tried Elementary OS and a lite version of Zorin but is there anyway I could get something like Linux Mint or the like, basically anything over 700MB, onto this thing?

Go on ebay and buy a IDE DVD drive so you can read a DVD of mint or Ubuntu. It will only set you back 10 dollars or so.

Or just build mint/ubuntu from another distro, via zsync or a net install.

Try Debian net install. Or just a net install of anything.
