Instaling Fedora 23 - SSD Not reconised in AHCI mode

I'm stuck while installing Fedora 23, it won't see the SSDs in AHCI or RAID mode but will see it in IDE?

Is it OK to run the SSD in IDE mode?

I'm not a complete Linux Noob but I need some help.

It's an AMD A8 on Gigabyte G1 Sniper (A88x)

I don't have a good answer for this as both my computers boot fedora fine in ahci mode and apparently this ain't a common issue.

My suggestion would be to check to see if there are any eufi updates for your motherboard as it might be a bug.

What happens if you try to install with only the one ssd (nothing else) installed on the system?

Does this only happen with fedora?

You can install in ide mode and then switch back to ahci however it apparently requires some changes to the kernel to include thebahci modeule again.

I think it is something to do the the a88x chipset, as on the Ubuntu forums there where people with similar issue. Didn't say how they fix it though.

The bios us the latest version.
I think you lose the ability for the os/software to issues TRIM and Garbage collection commands. So the SSD will have to look after itself.

But now have an issue after installing the latest AMD graphics drivers.
She don't boot no more :( I fix it later

Rant time.
I really do hate computers and IT.
It's designed to make peoples lives easier but it does the opposite.

I should be able to come home. Turn on the computer and it just work. I shouldn't have to wait for updates or try and troubleshoot why my USB 2.0 drivers aren't working when they were working 2 hours ago and nothing changed . <- Windows I'm looking you.
It should just work.

When I work in the IT industry I shouldn't have to bring my work home. I just want to fire up a game and wind down.
Ot watch a movie/TV show or catchup on the forum.
