Insert Drivers During Install?

Hello,

No Linux distros seem to contain the correct drivers for my SATA controller. Is there any way to install them during the OS install like you can in Windows?

Thanks
Jake

Okay, really strange but changing some BIOS settings seems to have it working.

Just for future reference, your SATA controller was probably in a mode that Linux didn't understand. SATA native or AHCI ussually works.

For future reference you can boot into the desktop ('Try Distro') and install a package there then launch the installer.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but anything installed in the live CD is deleted upon poweroff. If you want to save files and settings from a usb, you must use the Live cd with persistance

EDIT: spoke to soon. didn't realize what you were trying to do. installing the drivers so your drives will be recognized will work in Live mode.... but Not sure if you will run into problems when you go to boot into your fresh install since you'll basically be trying to boot into a permanent fresh live cd...without the drivers.

I'd assume you could
1.) boot to live cd
2.) install drivers so your disk will be seen
3.)install OS
4.) install drivers into the correct spot on your permanent install partition so it'll boot
5.) reboot/ boot off of hard disk and see if it's working

I'm sure there is a quicker way to do this (don't have a lot of experience with Linux under my belt yet.)

EDIT 2:
saw you got it working with a bios setting change... my b. LOL
