Infiniband on Windows

I’m surprised by the price of 40Gbit infiniband gear. Might was well use it instead of 10Gbit (no switch, just point to point).

Anybody know which ones have Windows drivers? I’m guessing most don’t have Windows drivers and that’s why they’re cheap. Gaming PC will be on windows and that’s the end of that discussion; but, I will try to commit to Linux again on my other PC.

Look into the Mellanox ConnectX-3 variants, they’re somewhere around $50-$75 for the 56G/40G model last time I checked.

I use some variant of the MCX354A in my systems and it’s extremely easy to do IPoIB in Windows which also makes life a lot easier in general.

I rewatched a LTT video and found a model.
Mellanox MHQH19B-XTR-FH apparently.

The 3, 3p and 4 are really old … there’s limited support for modern versions of windows OS. If you’re running server 2008 / 2012 you should be good with a 3.
