In Search Of A New Mousepad For My Desk! 🫤🤷‍♂️Advice & Suggestions Are Appreciated!

Well, guys, it’s definitely been a while since I last made a post here, but I could use your help on this as it’s a REAL challenge. Be sure to keep on reading for more details.

So, this happens to be the gaming desk that I’ve been rocking for nearly the last 4 years & it has held up pretty good for the most part. --[This is the link to it, by the way for anyone interested. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07T1XYD1H/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1 Do bear in mind that the version I have has a bit of a “hump” at the back hence it’s odd shape, but it is technically also for the cable management tray as well.]-- However, one area where it hasn’t quite held up as well is with regards to the included mousepad that came with the desk itself. :unamused:It has lasted me pretty much since day 1, however, the issue I have with it is that part of the underside is kind sticking to the desk almost as if it’s melting.] Now, my room is sort of on the smaller side, & the house itself is at least 100 years old, but due to it settling over the years, I’m pretty certain that there are some slight issues with my room being properly ventilated even though I keep my back door & the window shut, plus, the blinds pulled down most of the time. But then again, I have noticed now that the mousepad that they included with the desk is of “okay” quality, but obviously not the best by a longshot :man_facepalming:And the issue I have now is simply trying to find the right-sized one that matches the dimensions of my desk.

Now, I have already done a bit of searching on my own, but even as 1 reviewer has said regarding this desk, trying to find a replacement is as they put it, “a nightmare” & I totally see what they mean now. I have even consulted using Bard & Bing Chat, but I haven’t exactly managed to find the right mousepad that I prefer which would serve as a suitable replacement. :man_shrugging:The first place I checked was the Linus Tech Tips store, but they sadly do NOT have the right size & I even checked Amazon as well with no luck. I generally prefer to find something that would fit perfectly if I’m able to. :crossed_fingers:If you check the dimensions which are listed under the Product Information, the Depth of the desk is 23.62" or 599.948mm, & the Width is 55.12" or 1400.048mm. You guys are probably wondering by now, though, what I prefer or look for in a mousepad. My requirements are nothing outrageous: I prefer a durable/high-quality cloth like material that is ideal for gaming, dimensions that match, & as for the artwork, I’ll leave that up to me even though I’m not too fussy about that sort of thing, but as a person, I do have my preferences. :smirk::v:

With that being said, I am truly hoping that someone here can help me find the right one I’m looking for. If I accidentally left out any important details, or if you guys have ANY questions for me about this, just ask away & I will be sure to reply! :grinning:So, thanks in advance everyone! :man_bowing:

Go wild :person_shrugging:

TBH I’ve read through the entire thing and I’m not exactly sure what exactly your issue is? Any mousepad (ideally smaller then the desk) will fit. I doubt you will find anything that fits the exact dimensions of your desk. Whether you like the surface is up to personal preference and noone can really help you with that.

I use my Mionix NAOS PRO mouse directly on the wooden keyboard shelf of my desk, no pad at all. The space I have is limited and a regular mousepad just didn’t work.

Mionix NAOS PRO (No affiliation, other than I bought three since 2016)

i prefer a hard mat.
in 2011 i bought a razor destructor mat for the lachesis i had at the time.

i still have the mat and use it  and it still seems to be as fast as the day i got it.
25 quid at the time but imo its been more than worth it.

Mine. :yay:

Although unfortunately, I still do. :unamused:

I get what you’re saying. But what I sort of clarfied in my post here was that I prefer to find something along the same dimensions as the included mousepad/desk mat IF I can. Surely THAT makes sense to you now…:man_shrugging:

Thanks for the advice, but I think in reality, a mousepad helps your mouse track better with it. If you choose NOT to go that route, well, it’s up to you. :man_shrugging:

A hard mat. Wow. That probably has to be the first time I have EVER heard of someone mentioning that…

I guess the question is what is its size then? I’m not sure if Amazon is giving me the correct website but it’s showing me multiple desks and none of them have a mat exactly the size of the desk. In fact thry look like standard size mats.

Using SteelSeries QcK it’s good for all purposes.

You could use a floor protection mat for office chairs as desk cover. Usually they are big and quite desk sized and often are made out of stiffer / harder material. - Usually the upper surface is smooth and the lower one is more rough so that it stays at place.

Otherwise I would recommend checking out the Gamers Nexus Mod Mat or mouse pads.

wasnt a fan of fabric and foam mats at the time.
i found that just the weight of my hand on the mouse would cause pointer drift on screen which isnt great if your playing twitch shooters.

as i said i like it so much i never bothered changing it. and i know i will be dammed to a lower level of hell. but its a razor product i can actually endorse as being good

I can assure you that mine is unique. Just view one of the customer review images I pulled directly from Amazon. Oh, & by the way, I included the dimensions as well for you.

I checked them out, but from what I noticed, they do NOT have the right size/dimensions I’m after, so that’s out.

Hm. Well, although that’s a clever idea, I wouldn’t go with a floor protection mat as a desk mat/mousepad simply because they aren’t designed as that. Plus, even though I’m no expert, you wouln’t have the same effortless performance using something like that as opposed to ACTUALLY usinf a mousepad or a deskmat. Still, I’ll check Gamers Nexus out & see if he has anything, but I won’t get my hopes up…

Huh. :thinking::man_shrugging:

I used to use a soft mat, but got fed up with how short a time they lasted before fabric layers started peeling. Went hard mats and never looked back.

You can really use anything for a mouse pad though. I’ve even used a pad of paper sitting on the carpet before. lol. You can go buy a piece of plastic or even a block of wood the size you want and use it as a hard mat, or use some adhesive backed (or just glue it down) fabric or plastic film over a piece of wood or metal or whatever in the size you are wanting. Mice these days have sensors that are plenty good enough to distinguish just about any surface accurately. You don’t need a specific mouse pad to make a mouse track properly like in the old days. Use literally whatever you want that is the perfect size you are looking for.

I used a sheet of textured aluminum as a mousemat for a while. It worked fine, and didn’t acquire gunk, but the lack of friction was annoying at times.

That’s what the Skypad is known for and everyone I know who uses it says it takes some time to get used to but it’s badically the best thing since bread.
