In need of a new Laptop

Hi everyone

So at the moment I am using like a 10 year old netbook. It's the Asus eeePC R100 or something like that and I really need a new laptop for University as I tend to do all of my coding etc on there. However, I can't really seem to find a good laptop for my budget, which is around £450. The main things that I need in a laptop are portability, so any screen size 14" and below would be good and battery life, I need at least 5 hours of web browsing.

I haven't really managed to find one around my budget that I am happy with, even at the place I work. Including the discount I would get. However, I managed to "build" my own laptop on pcspecialist.co.uk. So I just wanted to get your opinions.

The base laptop I have chosen is the 14" UltraNote II - http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/notebooks/ultraNoteII-14/.

The only parts I have changed are as follows:

Processor - i3 4000m at 2.5GHz

RAM - 4GB Kingston HyperX Genesis 1600 MHz (maybe upgrade to 8GB if I decide it is worth the extra £30)

Storage - Kingston HyperX 3K 120GB

I don't need an Operating System Installed as I will be installing Linux instead. Everything else I have kept as default and the total cost comes to £425.

So do you think that it is worth it?

Thanks for any advice.

The pcspecialist laptop is good and 8GB of RAM is definately worth it even for the extra £30. However you could get this:

It comes with Windows 8 but you can replace it with Linux if you desire but hurry because it is on a sale of £399.99 instead of £499.99. With the extra £50 you can upgrade the RAM, Hard Drive to an SSD etc.

Cheers for the recommendation but unfortunately that is too big for my purposes. Thank you though.
