iMac as a screen for my PC?

Is it possible? The screen I've got at the moment changes colour towards the bottom of it (I know this can be common with slightly cheaper screens) and I've got a "spare" iMac sitting to the left of me.

Probably not :(. Seeing as it is an all in one, there shouldn't be a video in. Most likely, you'd have to gut it and find the place where the video is encoded and wire yourself your own cable to solder in to the video out. I mean, it's doable I guess, but way to much work for me lol. Sorry though.

Ahaha yeah that'd be a little too much work. Probably better to just buy a new monitor.

You can if both your iMac and PC motherboard have thunderbolt ports. (I´m not sure about DVI to thunderbolt adapters, that might be an option.

In that case: turn both machines on, connect your PC to the thunderbolt port on your iMac and press ⌘+F2. The iMac should start behaving like a monitor.

Good luck!

Really, I never knew that! That's awesome!

Ohhh I completely forgot about that. Just checked the back of the iMac, it's got a Mini-Displayport instead of the thunderbolt (older model i guess) Might have some cables lying around that elaborately might be a work around.

I believe that the mini-Displayport is output only but i´m just guessing.

You can connect to the iMac via Display Port or Thunderbolt. The Thunderbolt port on the back uses the same connection as Display Port.
