I'm building my first computer: How does it look?

Okay, this is my first ever build. What do you guys think of it???

At no point in that listing does it say that the motherboard comes with RAM. You might want to check your facts there.

Newegg sometimes has a promotion where if you buy a motherboard you get a free 8gb stick of ram. Must be over now though.

Hmm, must have just ended. Well, I will just throw in 8 gigs of 1600 RAM.

All right. Well apart from that the build looks fine to me.

Though if you wanted my opinion I would have gone Intel/nVidia rather then AMD/ATI, that's mostly just preference though.

Looks solid.

I would certainly have no problem using a nice system like that. Mind you, I did just finish building a system with a FX 6300 so perhaps there is a little “fan boy” in my comments. In all seriousness there is nothing wrong with what you have put together and you should get many years of enjoyment from what you have built. I think the only thing I would add would be some more fans as this case only comes with 1-120mm rear fan. I would go with a front fan and a top fan or 2 if they will fit because as we all know heat is the killer of any computer system.

Personally for that amount of money on the PSU I would get

and use the promo code for 20% off. It's modular and a very solid series.

Oh the code is PSU80B0113, it would be $79.77

Spend the extra money on a 7870 if you can afford it. It's not that much more and it will give you a significant performance boost.

OCZ PSU? No way.

OCZ Power supplies are actually really good. Linus from NCIX even defends them in one of his videos where hes talking about power supplies and RMAs. I cant recall the exact video because he posts so many but they're not as bad as people make them out to be. For example; one of my friends has her FX8120 clocked to 4.5Ghz and its powering a 7950 - absoloutely no problems with the thing. Those original bulldozers were also known to be bottomless pits in power consumption but the thing just chugs right along as if its idling.

On May 25, 2007, the company was acquired by OCZ Technology.

PC Power & Cooling has been in the power management business for over 23 years and was founded by Doug Dodson who later served as the CTO of Power Management for OCZ Technology's entire power management division post acquisition. The company was responsible for many innovations including the first CPU cooler, the first PC heat alarm, the first independently-regulated PC power supply, the first redundant power system, the first NVIDIA SLI Certified supply, the first 1000W computer power supply and the first - and still only company - to offer an individual certified test report with each power supply sold.

The OCZ power supply has a 5 year warranty and is 80+ Bronze certified and is semi-modular. Rosewill is not modular and has an 80+ Gold certification. It too has a 5 year warranty.  I would say go with the one you are most comfortable with.
