I'm "attempting" to Join The Army

After much thought and research I took it upon myself to become a member of the US Army. To me this is a great way towards a career that suits me best. BUT (this is where things get fuckey) after a much paperwork somewhere along the lines my social security number was inputted seriously incorrectly... So I find this out going to MEPS because i couldn't take my tests without correcting it. No problem! After some back and forth talk and reentering numbers it was fixed! Easy money, I take my tests and go home, but I come back the next day for my physical and to swear in and come to find out that no one informed each other about my SSN being changed so theres was still papers with the incorrect number! So now I get to go home and come back another day! Wow a great deal of my fucking time wasted! How neat! Motherfucking time vampires is what they are! Moal of the story... READ FUCKING EVERYTHING ELEVEN TIMES OVER AND MEMORIZE ALL YOUR SHIT SO YOU KNOW WHEN SOMEONE FUCKED UP! Good lord, now the delay begins...

dont worry about it wasting a few days, they are gona make you waste whole years. good luck. if you didnt already notice, this is just an example of what you're gona have to expect from the government.

Hurry up and wait man. It is the nature of the beast. Yes this is a lesson you have to learn quickly in dealing with the government and for the rest of your life. Read all paperwork.

@DerKrieger

This.

From what I've heard, things only turn to more BS as you go along, hate to say it.

Good Luck though.

Maybe the universe is trying to tell you something.

I would recommend doing a bit more research on the military-industrial complex.

So, the guy whose SSN they actually did input? Going to see the world, huh? :)

Ahhahaha. Welcome to military bureaucracy, you are getting your first dose before boot camp. This is just awesome.

The army can be a great career, you'll make some of your best friends there. Just remember to treat bullshit as a game.

From what I've gathered from the other guys reenlisting, MEPS in LA is like an even worse DMV, but it's worth the struggle. I am in a unique situation where I get to go back tomorrow... Just means another free night at a hotel with a free buffet. 👉👉

hahaha right... and they want free health care like the VA

just a tip when it comes to paperwork make sure YOU = YOURSELF reviews it 3x before handing it in and you keep copies of everything. with any company they will fuck it up. people are working there. they people working on your paper work have 40's on their ASVAB

Joining the military is the dumbest thing you can possibly do. Are you even paying attention to how they treat our veterans? Can't you see the saber rattling going on with Obama and Hillary? Do you know who we are fighting wars for? It's not the USA's interests, that much should be obvious.

LOL I actually scored a 40 on my practice.. only went up to a 55 at the end but good enough for what I wanted

I'm quite aware..

Are you desperate or something? Are you in an area with no jobs? I mean theres a good chance you don't make it out of the military in one piece. And if you think you're being patriotic or something, that's admirable, but the ones you'll be serving Israel, the international bankers, and the hegemony of evil.

I don't know what can be so bad that you'd join the military. Bad pay, a history of taking away benefits, a good chance at getting maimed or killed. There has to be something better.

I work right near the VA Hospital in LA. I see tons of homeless vets every day. I'd hate for you to end up like those guys.

I served under Bill Clinton when Cheney was SecNav......'nuff said

What MOS? I don't know Army designations so plain English please?

sorry dude you have no idea what you are talking about. leave the chat to vets. i get the tin foil hat thing and will be glad if our country is out of the hands of lawyers.

the military is a good choice for someone who doesn't have good choices to for college or able to own a business. i wanted to give back to my country/community so i did and i was able to help in some major conus/oconus tragedies. 90% of the military is support.

in regards to VA i have the luxury to use the VA as a vet and i still wont touch it. the best thing you can plan for yourself is to educate yourself so when you get out of the military you do not have to depend on a broken system. there will always be homeless because of lack of drive that depend on the government.

like someone else said on here its a great community and friends for life. just get ready to deal with bullshit.

You're right. I was never in the military. However several of my friends and my former roomate were and they were all adamant that it was shit. They regretted joining and wouldn't do it if they had the chance to do it all over again. And those guys served during gulf war 1. Shit's worse now.

Maybe if homeboy is enlisting as an officer, with a specific job lined up or something, fine. But to join as a grunt? Like I said, you'd have to be desperate (which I can understand). But there has to be something better. Construction, electrician, plumber, trade of some sort... anything has to be better than coming back with physical or mental scars, or in a body bag.
