What windows you running? doesnt say on your profile :(
Oh sorry, Windows 8 pro 64bit
and your trying to install the SATA controller for your chipset whilst in windows then when you reboot its BSOD on boot and you gotta uninstal the sata controller?
Exactly.
Try switching on OR off (Depending on its current setting) AHCI in the Bios. That can mess with the Sata drivers.
Ok I'll give that a shot.
Well trying to install drivers like that I would recommend slip streaming them into the CD or loading them onto a flash drive. That seems to work for me a lot
Yes I tried loading them from the disc that came with the board and made a thumb drive with downloaded drivers from the ASUS site.
think mine is set to something like....native IDE and the option underneat is SATA mode :), if i set AHCI mode i bluesreen at boot too hahah (i dont have an SSD tho so probably the reason why).
Always fun to mess in bios hahahah
you need to change registry settings to let the OS boot into AHCI mode, save the settings, restart and change settings in bios to AHCI
Forgive my ignorance but if you could elaborate just a bit I would greatly appreciate it. I am still learning.
Just see if you can turn on/off AHCI. But there is a small registry hack that allows you to switch between AHCI and IDE modes after you install windows. You can try it if you cant find the BIOS settings.

Should work the same for Windows 8 as well.
When you initially installed windows on the ssd im assuming, you should have set the bios settings to ahci. If they are on ide and you change it to ahci then it wont boot with out the registry hack. Once you have your ssd running on ahci and it boots properly, if you still have problems then maybe consider sending the bord back.
ahci was on in bios I switched it to ide and the driver controller loaded fine. Thanks!
The board was set to ahci so i switched it to ide and the sata driver loaded. I had tried on both an ssd and a mechanical.
No problem :)
if you sure the drives are ok then I'm guessing the board is faulty.
His problem has already been solved. Read the comments, lol.
